QHSE Specialist Joins TEMS International

Independent drilling performance management specialist TEMS International has welcomed a new QHSE adviser to support its continued expansion.

Alan McInnes will work with the Aberdeen-headquartered company, which has overseas offices in Houston and Kuala Lumpur, to manage its quality assurance, health, safety and environmental management systems.

He has over 30 years of experience in health and safety, which includes in-house positions in the oil and gas, marine and construction industries, and consultancy positions with engineering and manufacturing firms. During his career Alan has developed QHSE systems for over 40 companies.

Alan will use this knowledge and experience to manage and continue developing TEMS International’s QHSE management systems. This includes independent certification of the firm’s ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards. He will also support the firm in gaining relevant international certifications that will contribute to its development globally.

A member of the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety, Chartered Institute of Quality Assurance and International Institute of Risk and Safety Management, Alan also holds numerous health and safety, environmental management and engineering qualifications. In addition, he is an approved lead auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.

Alan’s appointment comes as oil and gas operators continue to work to reduce the carbon footprint of their drilling assets, something that TEMS International can assist with by improving the efficiency of drilling operations. This can reduce drilling fluid usage and therefore waste, decreasing the requirement for subsequent shipping and processing, and ultimately lowering drilling costs and carbon emissions.

Commenting on his role, Alan said: “TEMS International is an ambitious, independent company that is delivering significant environmental and financial benefits to oil and gas operators around the world. It is at an exciting phase of its evolution, just as the energy sector is placing increased emphasis on reducing carbon emissions, offering it many opportunities. I am looking forward to supporting the firm’s continued growth, enhancing its systems which in turn will benefit clients.”

Bill Walkingshaw, TEMS International managing director, said: “Alan’s wealth of knowledge and experience will contribute to our international expansion, particularly as we seek to gain new industry certifications. In working closely with our team of skilled engineers, he will also add value to the services we offer clients, particularly in relation to the reporting of environmental performance and carbon emissions reductions.”
