The trade association represents over 600 member companies, drawing on the experience and expertise of those organisations and their staff. Since its founding in 1919, API has been at the forefront of the development of the energy industry in North America. Today, its mission is to promote safety across the industry globally and influence public policy in support of a strong, viable oil and natural gas industry in America.

TEMS International, which has offices in Houston, Aberdeen and Kuala Lumpur, has joined the organisation as the number of projects it undertakes in the Americas continues to increase. Membership will provide the company with access to API’s well-respected research capabilities, programme of conferences and events, and representation before key legislative and regulatory bodies.

As an independent company, TEMS International provides unbiased recommendations. Its services that can be delivered as an end-to-end environmental management package or as individual projects. These services include continuous environmental compliance, drilling performance management, environmental rig and vessel audits, and drilling performance waste management services.

TEMS International works around the world supporting exploration and production companies during drilling operations. Its team of skilled engineers work closely with rig personnel, adding value across the entire drilling programme and becoming an integral part of the onboard team. Their knowledge, objective analysis and recommendations can reduce drilling fluid usage and waste, provide significant cost savings – sometimes major six-figure sums – and contribute to a decrease in the carbon footprint of the drilling asset.

Bill Walkingshaw, TEMS International managing director, said: “API is a hugely respected organisation around the world and has played a central role in the industry improving safety and environmental standards, two topics that are at the centre of our services. Membership of API will support us in our work with clients across America, provide opportunities for us to learn as a company and also share best practice with industry colleagues.”
