A leading environmental management service company has announced plans to significantly expand its United States operations.

Turnkey Environmental Management Services International Ltd (TEMS International) opened its doors in Houston just seven months after the company was founded in the UK in 2017. Such has been the success of the US office that the company has now secured new, larger premises in the city to accommodate the growing business.

Some 1,000 square feet of office and reception space has been sourced in the Energy Corridor area to provide scope for the current headcount to increase in line with ambitious growth plans. It is anticipated that, in the coming 18 months, the current team of two will grow significantly as the company seeks to develop new revenue streams, including the land rig market which will require the recruitment of additional operational staff and engineers.

Commenting on the new US premises, TEMS International Managing Director Bill Walkingshaw said: “The location of our new offices has been carefully chosen because it is close to existing clients and within easy reach of others. This is important in ensuring we are correctly positioned to continue with efficient delivery of products and services to a growing client base.

“The success of operations in the US is critical to the ongoing growth of the company as a whole. It is an important location for our international work, not only for deepwater projects in the Gulf of Mexico but also due to the fact that we plan projects in Mexico and Trinidad from there.”

Houston-based VP of Operations John Donaldson added: “This expansion in a key marketplace is a clear demonstration of TEMS International’s further commitment to the USA through investing in the future and creating more local employment.”

TEMS International recently announced that it had won $2 million of work in a range of significant locations, including the Gulf of Mexico and Trinidad. As well as adding positively to the balance sheet, the busy year has already led to the creation of eight new jobs to fulfil contracts ranging in duration from three months to up to five years.

Particularly in demand is the company’s bespoke Environmental Drilling Performance Management which minimises environmental impact whilst achieving substantial cost savings for the operator. A turnkey approach enables environmental waste management and the containment of drilling fluids to be covered by a single plan, ultimately ensuring more effective and efficient drilling.

The recent busy spell has also seen an upturn in requirement for TEMS International’s Environmental Compliance Service offering which ensures that operators maintain or exceed legislative requirements thanks to daily analysis and the production of detailed reports.
