TEMS International, a leading provider of environmental management and compliance services to oil and gas exploration and production companies, has opened a registered office in Malaysia.
The independent oil and gas service company has been growing its presence in the country over the last few years. Establishing a dedicated office in the centre of Kuala Lumpur (KL) close to Petronas Towers will provide the firm with an ideal base from which to support a growing number of projects in the Asia Pacific region, further develop the business locally and recruit personnel to support clients across the region.
The investment in a local office will further strengthen TEMS International’s partnership with ONYX iES Sdn. Bhd. Operating in Asia for 15 years, Onyx iES Sdn. Bhd. is a wells and subsurface consultancy and service provider incorporated in KL, Malaysia. Onyx iES staff are established experts in the region with an extensive track record in performing integrated wells and subsurface projects. The two firms will work together, with Oynx iES providing local expertise and personnel.
TEMS international has delivered several successful projects in the region, helping major offshore operators to optimise their drilling performance and environmental compliance while reducing their carbon footprint. Bill Walkingshaw, Managing Director for TEMS International, said: “Operators in the Malaysia region are placing increased emphasis on limiting the environmental impacts of their drilling. We’ve been talking with several operators about drilling and environmental standards, and how we can help to drive improvements, bringing skills and expertise to the industry in Malaysia.
“Opening an office is the natural next step for us as we continue to expand opportunities and build local relationships. Last year we appointed Emy Marlina as Business Development Manager for TEMS International based in Malaysia. This has already enabled us to provide clients with a greater level of support on the ground.”
Gordon Williams, Managing Director for Onyx iES Sdn. Bhd. said: “We are excited to be partnering with TEMS to support their growth plans for the region and as part of that, bring a new level of focus and compliance regarding environmental matters during well operations.”
TEMS International Business Development Manager in Malaysia, Emy Marlina, added: “By reducing the volume of fluids being used during drilling operations, we can cut onshore transportation and processing costs, and subsequently lower the carbon footprint of an offshore installation. When several thousand fewer barrels of fluid are needed to drill a well, the scale of the financial and environmental benefits that can be achieved are significant. We are proud to be supporting a growing number of operators in this region to minimise their impact on the environment in this way.”
